CREATING A SERVER

connection (about 50kb per slot is needed) you can make a server for public use. Here is how you make a server.
01) Click open CALL OF DUTY - UNITED OFFENSIVE MULTIPLAYER.
02) Click START NEW SERVER.

You are now looking at the GENERAL options. They are as follows:

GAMETYPE: This is where you decide the type of match you will have on your server. IA uses team deathmatch.

SERVER NAME: This is where you type the name of your server. For example: (IA) Butthead's All Out War.

DEDICATED: This shows where your server will be found. Always select INTERNET.

PURE: This indicates if the server is pure game or not. Select YES.

MAX PLAYERS: This is determined by your Internet speed. The higher the number, the more chances you are to have lag. Start with 6 and
see how things work.

MINIMUM PING: This allows you to block players with a minimum ping of what you set the number at. (IA) sets this number at 0.

MAXIMUM PING: This works the same way but backwards. This number is also set at 0 for our server.

MAX RATE: This is frames per second. Start with setting yours at 20000 - 25000 and see how things go.

PASSWORD: This is where you set the password for your server.

PUNK BUSTER: Punk Buster is a cheat detector. It kicks cheaters. However you need to download the program from their web site, so I don't
bother. I put this setting at NO.

03) The next step is to click the ADVANCED tab. Here you will select the options you want. For our clan server I choose NO for the
KILLCAM, and YES for everything else.

04) The fourth step is to open the SETTINGS options. Here are the options for the gametype you selected. If you have decided to run a
Team Deathmatch you will see more options that you can change. For Team Deathmatch our server has the following settings:

SCORE LIMIT: 900 (0 = No score limit)

TIME LIMIT: 1440 (1440 = 24 hours. The time is counted in minutes. 0 = No time limit.)

FRIENDLY INDICATORS: YES

FRIENDLY FIRE: OFF

FORCE RESPAWN: NO

AUTO-BALANCE TEAMS: NO

05) The next 2 tabs are VEHICLES and WEAPONS. Here you can pick and choose your options for those. In the WEAPONS tab notice that
the option for the FG42 is turned off. If you want this weapon in your maps you must turn it ON.

06) Your next option is the map. If you look to the right you will see the list of maps. Decide which map you want and click on it.

07) After you have gone through and checked all your options click START at the bottom.

08) Now this is the most important part, so follow closely. After you have clicked START, the options menu will disappear and a green
window will appear in it's place. Do not panic. This green window is the console. This is the game. DO NOT CLOSE IT. After this window
appears wait for about 10 - 15 seconds (sometimes more) until the console dump has stopped loading. The console dump are the words (or
program) inside the green window. After they have stopped go to the very top right of the window. There you will see a + (plus) and a -
(minus) sign. Do not click the + (plus) sign. Doing so will shut down your server. Instead you must click the - (minus) sign. By clicking the -
(minus) sign your console will minimize and be off your desktop.

09) After you have minimized your console go back to the main CoD:UO menu and start looking for your server. You may have to go to the
FILTERS options and check to see if they are set to match your server settings. After doing that click REFRESH LIST and start hunting. Make
sure that the SOURCE at the upper left is set for INTERNET, and the GAMETYPE is set for ALL. The CONNECTION must be set to what you
have (dsl - 56k, and so on).

PLEASE NOTE: You must check your UO folder for any custom maps or mods you may have downloaded from another server. If you have
any maps or mods in this folder all potential guests must download them before they can enter your server. Your UO folder may be loaded
with such files and you may not be aware of them.   And it could take forever before someone comes on to your server. Here is the list of files
that should be in your UO folder. If anything other then these files appear chances are they are a map or a mod. If you need instructions on
how to remove maps or mods see LOADING AND UNLOADING MAPS AND MODS below.

Aside from the files listed above you might have 3 more. If you do not have these other 3 files listed in your UO folder don't worry about
them. These are program files that I use, so you might not have them.

LOADING AND UNLOADING MAPS AND MODS (For home servers with Windows XP and earlier.

01) Click open MY COMPUTER on your desktop.
02) Click open LOCAL DISK (C:)
03) Click open PROGRAM FILES
04) Click open CALL OF DUTY GAME OF THE YEAR (or CALL OF DUTY)
05) Locate the "UO" folder and click open that.
06) You can now either delete the map or mod, or just remove it and save it for later to use on your server.

You can load maps and mods directly into this folder to use them on a newly created server. Or you can remove maps and mods from this
folder when you no longer have a need for them.

MAP AND MOD LOCATION FOR WINDOWS 7

I have found that maps and mods like to hang out in a different location that can be really hard to find.

01) Open “My Computer”
02) Open “Local Disk (C:)”
03) Open “Users”
04) Open “Main”. The name of this folder may be different for you.
05) Open “App Data”
06) Open “Local”
07) Open “Virtual Store”
08) Open “Program Files (x86)”
09) Open “Call of Duty (Game of the Year Edition)”
10) Open “UO”
11) It is in this “UO” folder that you should find your long lost map or mod.

MAKING BINDS

To create binds follow the steps bellow:
01) First you need to be on the server.
02) Open the console by pressing the “~“ button on the left of the 1 button.
03) Now type this: BIND 1 SAY Hello
04) Now close the console.
Every time you press the 1 button your bind will appear as “Hello” You can chose any buttons for your binds, but I use numbers. I think they
are easier to keep track of.

ADDING COLORS

Let's say you want to add color to a bind or your name. For example your bind might say this: HELLO THERE! Now lets say you want the
words to look like this:
HELLO THERE! Here is the way it's done. Press and hold the SHIFT key, and then the 6 key. You will see this ^
appear. Now press 1. That gives you the color red.  For every new color press and hold the SHIFT key then your selected number to change
colors.

^1 = Red
^2 = Green
^3 = Yellow
^4 = Blue
^5 = Cyan
^6 = Magenta
^7 = White
^8 = Dark Blue
^9 = Grey
^0 = Black

CALL OF DUTY: UNITED OFFENSIVE - v1.5

For those of you who decide to venture off and explore the 1.5 version this is for you. If you find yourself switching to the “other side” and
wanting to return please take note. Simply uninstalling and reinstalling the game may not always bring you back to the 1.4 version. So how
do you return? Very carefully. Below is how Activision says it must be done. However, I have changed the wording to help make it more
understandable. Activision, as well as I, both warn you strongly about these steps. The deleting of the files from the computer’s registry can
be fatal to your computer. You will in fact cause serious problems to your computer if you make a mistake. So take note: If you screw up you
are on your own. DO NOT ask me for help. I can do nothing to help you. Before you decide to delete the game you must make sure you
have ALL the CoD and CoD: UO disks ready for reinstallation. If you try to delete the 1.5 patch and do not have all your disks you are stuck,
and cannot return at all.

The information below is posted as reference ONLY, and should not be attempted by anyone without proper training. If you decide to take
these steps you are doing so at your own risk.

These steps will delete Call of Duty regardless if it is version 1.5 or version 1.4.

STEP 1
01)
Click on the START button
02) Click RUN
03) Type REGEDIT and click OK

(
WARNING - Once you open this window you are on your own.)

04) A window will open, and to the left will be a menu.
05) Look in the menu for this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click on (open) the + sign to the left of that.
06) Look for the word SOFTWARE, and click on the + sign to the left of that.
07) Locate the word ACTIVISION and click the + sign to the left of that.
08) Right - click on the CALL OF DUTY UNITED OFFENSIVE folder and select DELETE.
09) Close the registry editor.

STEP 2
01)
Now go to your desktop and click on MY COMPUTER
02) Click open LOCAL DISC (C:)
03) Click open PROGRAM FILES and locate the CALL OF DUTY folder and open it.
04) Locate the UO folder and right click on it, then select DELETE.

STEP 3
01)
Click on the START button
02) Locate SEARCH and then in that locate FOR FILES AND FOLDERS... Open that link.
03) A window will open and to the left will be a selection. Locate and click on ALL FILES AND FOLDERS
04) Another window will open with more selections. At the top of the selections you will see ALL OR PART OF THE FILE NAME. In that
location type CoDUO.INI then hit SEARCH.
05) Once the search is completed right click on this file and select DELETE.
06) At this point the game is completely removed from your system, so now you must reboot your computer and reinstall  Call of Duty and
Call of Duty: United Offensive. This will bring you back to the 1.4 version.

To download the 1.5 patch you can also just click AUTO-DOWNLOAD at the main menu of the game.

RECORDING THE CONSOLE HISTORY (for server admins with homemade servers)

If you follow the steps below you shouldn't have any problems. The first thing you need to do is create a shortcut to your UO folder on your
desktop. The UO folder is where your game commands are stored. It is very important that you don't have too many custom maps or mods in
that folder when running a server. If you do, players would have to load them before they can enter.
Here we go:

01) Open the icon on your desktop called MY COMPUTER.
02) Locate and open the icon called LOCAL DISC (c:).
03) Locate the folder called PROGRAM FILES and open it.
04) Now locate the folder called CALL OF DUTY, and open that.
05) Inside the CALL OF DUTY folder you will find another folder called UO. This is it.
06) Once you have located the UO folder right click on it and scroll down the menu to where it says SEND TO and then to the search to
the right of that option menu to where it says DESKTOP (CREATE SHORTCUT), and click on that option.
07) You have now created a shortcut to the UO folder and placed it on your desktop. You can close everything out now.
08) Now go to your START button and click on that.
09) Locate PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS (either one depending on your computer).
10) Locate ACCESSORIES inside the PROGRAMS section.
11) Once you have located ACCESSORIES you need to find NOTEBOOK inside that.
12) Open NOTEBOOK and type TEST. At the upper top of the NOTEBOOK click FILE and then SAVE AS.
13) A window will open and at the upper left you will see SAVE IN. Select DESKTOP the your option.
14) Next, locate the FILE NAME box towards the bottom (from the window mentioned above) and type this: console_mp
15) Now click SAVE.
16) You have just created the console history program. Now place this file in to your UO folder.
17) If your server is running open it and look at the bottom. You will see a long white box for typing in commands. Type this command in
that box: logfile 2
18) You should see this in your console: logfile opened. If yo do not see this message then open  the console_mp file and scroll down
towards the bottom. You should see your console history  being recorded.
19) Every time you want to restart the recording just type: logfile 2
